Director of Student Ministries
Purpose: The DSM exists to equip, encourage and empower middle school & high school students to grow in the likeness of Jesus Christ. His primary role will be that of a trainer reproducing Christ followers. His secondary role will be mutually agreed upon based upon applicant’s spiritual gifts, strengths and interests.
Supervisory Relationships and Accountability
- The DSM will report to the pastor.
- The DSM will meet weekly with the pastor for the purposes of encouragement and ministry implementation.
- The DSM will receive a ministry assessment no later than August 20, 2008.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- To recruit, train and supervise adult volunteer staff in ministry to students.
- To provide a balanced ministry of evangelism and discipleship including:
- To teach the Bible with clarity, creativity and conviction.
- Provide opportunities for Worship
- Provide opportunities for students to serve others
- Provide opportunities for students to build a healthy group image.
- To provide meaningful opportunities for students to connect with other students. To build a healthy group identity.
- To develop and distribute a bi-weekly newsletter to students and parents
- To develop relationships with students through a weekly contacting ministry. For each student to be under the care of a adult “shepherded”.
- To provide prayer support for every student attending SBCC.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Assist in the SBCC worship services as directed.
Personal Qualities
- Vibrant Love for Jesus Christ and Love for Students and desire to bring the two together (Matthew 22:37-38)
- Committed to living & modeling a Godly lifestyle. Authentic in their relationship with Jesus Christ. (I Corinthians 10:31- 11:1, I Timothy 4:11-12)
- Above reproach in personal relationships. (I Timothy 3:2)
- Capable of effective communication with students, their parents and adult volunteers.
- Self – Starter, able to take initiative.
- Ability to lead Adult staff and middle, high school & college students.
