We finally bought a car last week from Chuck. We spent a lot of time with a few dealerships and finally Chuck earned our business. But what separated him from the rest? In short, it was his work ethic. His attitude. See Chuck is a Ford salesman, but offered to meet us at the Honda dealership. When we arrived he had two vehicles we asked about opened up and ready for us test drive. When i inquired about a totally different model, he had it pulled around inviting us to take a look inside. He did everything he could to earn my business. He listened to what we needed. Asked questions for clarification. When to bat for us to get us a better price than what I was willing to pay. This week we'll launch a new series called Win the Day. All across our area, state & nation teams have been at practice in preparation to Win their Day. Softball, Football, Soccer, Cheer, Debate teams. People in new jobs. All wanting to Win their Day. What can you and I do to Win at Work? Here's a couple thoughts:
Whatever we find ourselves doing, let us work as though Jesus is our boss. Because technically He is. If we are to work to make Him proud of the job we're doing, we'll be far ahead of most people. Let's Win the Day Friend! Pastor Mike PS: Two things I'd ask from you. Have you registered for Holy Smoke Sunday on Sept 15? We've got the Smoked meat coming, all we need is you! Invite someone to Sit with You! 2 - Leave us a review on our church page on Google. Google us StoneBridge Community Church and be kind enough to leave us a review- Our goal is 40 reviews by Oct 1. I bet you thought I was talking about what to use to remove those tough stains on clothes? Actually that's no joke, we do need a good cleaner to get rid of kid's spills. To remove stubborn spots from that spilled sauce? But the "stains" I'm thinking of have more to do with the hurts we experience. What removes those kind of things. Think about it You might need God's Supernatural Stain Remover if...
Peter in wrapping up the list of qualities we should grow in as Christians concludes by "adding in Love." Not the feel good thing we often call love. No, Peter calls for us to live out the Supernatural Love of Jesus. . To put His love on display. And the best way we do this is in how respond to those who have hurt us. Are rude, mean or difficult. Peter wrote "Love each other deeply, for love covers a multitude of sins" (I Peter 4:8) We love because Jesus first loved us (1 John 4:19). On Sunday we'll do a deeper dive into how we can love the difficult people. Until then, if this is something you're facing, what can you do? Refuse to Get Your Revenge- leave that to God - Romans 12:17-19 Do good as you have opportunity and speak well of them Luke 6:27 Pray that God would allow you to see them the way He sees you Luke 6:28 Loving difficult people isn't easy because it's not natural. It goes against all human logic. It's only the love of Jesus that removes the darkest of stains. Who in your world needs to know about this kinda love? Praying for you friend! - Pastor Mike This past weekend while in Dallas we ate at a really amazing restaurant. While the food was excellent, what really stood out was the service. The wait staff, table host and really anyone who cared for us smiled. They listened. They asked how they could help. In short, they were just really kind people! I fear often we think of kindness as weakness. That the gentle & nice people come in last. The BIG DOGS get all the perks and attention. Yet Solomon said, "Those who are kind benefit themselves.." (Prov. 11:17). Peter in describing the traits or qualities we should we striving to grow in lists, Brotherly Kindness. Encompassed in this word is more than just "feeling" good about another. It's an active word. Kindness in the heart is always expressed through our hands. Kindness is what we do. I can't see what's in your heart or mind, but i can certainly see what you do and hear how you speak. So what might kindness look like?
Jesus had compassion towards you and I. He asks us to do the same. Be devoted to one another in kindness. Honor one another passionately. (Rom. 12:10). As one of God's choice children, be compassionate, choose kindness... (Col. 3:12) It takes a STRONG man or woman to be kind. The weak, because they are worried about themselves, can not do it. Do something kind today... Join me Sunday and let's celebrate together! |
