This past weekend while in Dallas we ate at a really amazing restaurant. While the food was excellent, what really stood out was the service. The wait staff, table host and really anyone who cared for us smiled. They listened. They asked how they could help. In short, they were just really kind people! I fear often we think of kindness as weakness. That the gentle & nice people come in last. The BIG DOGS get all the perks and attention. Yet Solomon said, "Those who are kind benefit themselves.." (Prov. 11:17). Peter in describing the traits or qualities we should we striving to grow in lists, Brotherly Kindness. Encompassed in this word is more than just "feeling" good about another. It's an active word. Kindness in the heart is always expressed through our hands. Kindness is what we do. I can't see what's in your heart or mind, but i can certainly see what you do and hear how you speak. So what might kindness look like?
Jesus had compassion towards you and I. He asks us to do the same. Be devoted to one another in kindness. Honor one another passionately. (Rom. 12:10). As one of God's choice children, be compassionate, choose kindness... (Col. 3:12) It takes a STRONG man or woman to be kind. The weak, because they are worried about themselves, can not do it. Do something kind today... Join me Sunday and let's celebrate together!
