The Time Jesus Prayed for You

In John 17 we read of the time when He prayed for His disciples, and for you and I. One of the things that He asked God for was your protection. Stop & ponder that for a moment... Jesus prayed for your safety!

Do you pray for your kids? For those you care about? Family members? Friends? If so i bet one of the things you ask for is that God would be with them. That He would protect them. What might that sound like?

Here's a couple things you might consider as you pray for those you love:

• Pray that God would guard them against sin in their life. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians that God will make a way of escape when we are tempted to despair, tempted to doubt God's goodness, tempted to play around with sinful actions. When you pray for others, pray that they would have the strength of God to walk away from hurtful situations. Pray that God would bring scripture to their minds for them to lean into.
• Pray that God might guard them from that attacks of the evil one. Peter says he goes about as a destructive lion seeking people to harm, to devour. Jesus asks the Father to protect His disciples then and us today from the evil one. Pray that you would have wisdom to see Satan's lies. Lies that cause us to doubt the Lord. to believe things that sound good but are not true. Like this one I heard often growing up... "God helps those who help themselves." The truth is that God helps those who can not help themselves. That is called Grace and He has much for you and those you love this day.
• Pray that you would have eyes to see God's protection for you and those you care about!
