How many flashlights do you have in the house?

Not sure about you, but as I was counting ours we have a flashlight in almost every room and a couple in the basement. Now why? Why isn't one enough? Or maybe two so you can have one in each hand??

You know the reason, because if the lights go out and you need light NOW, you may not be able to get to the ONE or TWO. You NEED LIGHT NOW.

When Jesus was here, he stated for all to hear, I Am the Light of the World. John 8:12 & 9:5. When he was letting people know who He IS, he said "I AM THE LIGHT". Not only was He Light, but followers of his are called the Light of the World and Children of Light (Matthew 5:14 & Ephesians 5:8-9).

You know light does at least two things- both of which are true of Jesus and Believers.

1. Light chases away darkness. Darkness and light never co-exist and light always wins. That's why you want your flashlight handy when the power goes out. Your flashlight chases darkness out, allowing you to see. Jesus chases away the evil and allows us to see the good. When we live as his children, one of the things we do by our nature is make good visible. (read Eph. 5:9) This week in what ways can you as a person who reflects Jesus do good so people see the glory of the Father? (Matthew 5:16)
2. Light promotes growth & health. Our plants need light. Disease and germs grow in the dark. We often talk of "soaking up the rays". People will flock to beaches and warmth the next few weeks to "get some sun". Why? Cuz the rays of the sun do wonders for our physical and emotional well being. In much the same way to our souls, Jesus as the light causes our hearts and lives to be healthy. As we follow Jesus Christ, he leads us to good places for our heart, for our lives. We make better choices. Our finances are stronger because our priorities are different. Love increases, Forgiveness flows. All because of our journey with Jesus.
